How-To: Throw a Low Country Boil

By

Spending time with friends and family reigns supreme in the warmer spring and summer months in our neck of the woods. Often when we are planning get-togethers, we like to keep our menu simple so that we’re not stuck in the kitchen, missing’ out on all the memory-making that’s happening. That’s where Low Country Boils come in! With shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes, it’s quick and easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser with guests. If you’d like to bring this Southern tradition closer to home, we’re here to give y’all the best tips on throwing a Low Country Boil.

– Don’t worry about fancy serving platters. Just spread out some newspaper or paper grocery bags, and pour the drained dinner right on it. Just set a few tongs out with it, so people can get what they like!

– Keep out rolls of paper towels. Things can get a bit messy!

– If you don’t like messiness of peeling shrimp, you can always use peeled and deveined shrimp.

– Set out extra seafood seasoning (we like Old Bay) in case people want a little extra kick.

– Use small potatoes that you don’t have to cut up to save even more time.

– Use disposable plates and utensils. It makes cleanup a breeze! The only thing you’ll have to wash is the pot in which you made the Low Country Boil!

– And most importantly: have fun, get messy, and celebrate spending less time making the food and more time enjoying it with your loved ones!
